Legal Tint Limit

What is legal limit of tint in Ontario?

Ontario’s road safety law states that any vehicles manufactured after January 01, 2017 are not allowed to tint front windshield, and limits the front doors to 30% darkness tint or 70% VLT (visible light transmission).

On the driver and passanger door windows 30% or higher tint shades are legal and back windows can have any shades.

5% Tint Shade

This tint shade is the darkest offered in industry, this shades only allows 5% light to pass through it and blocks 95% of the light.

20% Tint Shade

This tint shade is the most common used tint shade, this tint only allows 20% light to pass through it and blocks 80% of the light.

35% Tint Shade

This tint shade is the legal tint to use on front windows, this shades allows 35% light to pass through it and blocks 65% of the light.
